Q: What is a super 8 video?

A Super 8 camera is a motion picture camera that uses Super 8mm film, a format introduced by Kodak in 1965 that became popular for its convenience and affordability. These cameras create a distinctive, nostalgic look due to their unique grain, color, and texture. Modern Super 8 cameras, like the recent Kodak model, often blend traditional film capture with digital technology, featuring features like digital displays and sound recording.

Back

Q: Does the camera record sound?

No, Super 8 cameras don’t record sound—they work by capturing a series of individual frames that create that dreamy, vintage motion when played back. The result is a silent film full of movement, color, and emotion. Once you receive your digital version, you can easily add your favorite song (or a few!) using any basic video editing app to make it perfectly your own.

Back

Q: Do I need experience to use a Super 8 camera?

No experience necessary. These cameras are easy to use, and the beauty of Super 8 lies in its imperfect, real, and emotional nature. Each rental includes a tutorial video, a shot list for inspiration, and a quick-start guide.

Back

Q: Do you provide instructions or a shot list?

Yes. Each rental comes with an info card, a short instructional video, and a shot list for inspiration. That said, the best part is seeing the day through your guests’ eyes—so perfection isn’t the goal, fun is.

Back

Q: How far in advance should I book my rental?

As soon as you know you want it! Once your deposit is received, the camera is reserved for you. Because the number of cameras is limited, it’s best to book early to guarantee one for your date.

Back

Q: Can I rent more than one camera?

Yes! Additional rentals are $850 each and include one roll of film. Each extra roll is $300.

Back

Q: Can I use this for something other than a wedding?

Absolutely! The Good Time Club cameras are perfect for family reunions, birthdays, anniversaries, vacations, or just capturing a weekend at home.

Back

Q: Can I film indoors or at night?

Yes. Lighting is key to good film, but these cameras are somewhat versatile. While they perform best using natural light or a brightly lit room, a video light is included for low-light situations to help you capture every moment.

Back

Q: How do I return everything after my event?

Simply pack everything back into the provided box and use the prepaid shipping label to send it back.

Back

Q: What happens if something breaks or is lost?

If the camera is damaged due to unreasonable wear and tear or if the camera is lost, the damage deposit will be forfeited.

Back

Q: How long does it take to get the finished film back?

Processing and delivery take about 4–6 weeks from the time your camera is returned.

Back

Q: How long is the final video?

Each roll of film captures about three minutes of footage. IF you opt to have professional editing ($150), the film might be a bit shorter as we take out repetitive shots or misfires.

Back

Q: Do you edit the footage or is it raw?

Super 8 film naturally produces a rich, nostalgic look that doesn’t require editing. Your footage will be processed and delivered exactly as it was captured—authentic, imperfect, and full of charm.

Back

Q: How do I receive the digital copy?

You’ll receive a USB drive in the mail with your digitized film once it’s ready.
